Donate to charity and get a celebrity Twitter follower?
Everyone is on Twitter these days, even if they don’t tweet anything at all. Social platforms are not just a tool anymore, it’s like an ID. Without it, it’s as though you do not exist. I kid you not.
I’m not quite sure if I’m against or supporting this yet. The idea of using nothing to raise money in the name of charity is kinda… I don’t know… somewhat misleading I guess.
Anyway, a new “method” of embracing technology and donating to charity has somewhat just been “developed” and it is called TwitChange.

The platform is a brand-new auction that uses Twitter to leverage donations. It is the first celebrity Twitter auction, offering interesting reward for donations: having a well-known celebrity retweet, follow, or otherwise mention you in a tweet of their own.
The list is still growing but the following are some of the participating celebrities: Pete Wentz, Nicole Richie, Mariah Carey, and Justin Bieber. Apparently, the Justin Bieber Mega Package, which is already selling for over $2,000 (probably USD), includes a follow by the star for a minimum of 90 days, one retweet, and one mention of your Twitter username in a tweet of his own.
The auction is being conducted via eBay (this “word” is becoming sensitive to me these days); to bid on your favourite celebrity tweeter, visit twitchange.com between now and September 25, 2010.
