Just received the LG monitor (W2486L) 1
I wouldn’t say it’s just-just, but considerably “just” enough. The LG monitor (W2486L) came in yesterday (since it’s waaay past midnight now), roughly in the afternoon.
I was pretty eager to tear open the box but refrained myself from doing so. A lady should not tear open stuff, we should do it gracefully (I didn’t want to break my nails). So with that thought in mind, the search for a pen knife began.
After half an hour or less, I found myself starring at my head pieces lying around on my table (been buying a lot of it lately) instead of searching for a pen knife. By then, Isabelle somewhat messaged and changed our meeting time from 5pm to 4.30pm. It kinda takes me 2 hours to get ready, so I really didn’t have time to spare.
My point is… the box is lying in the living room untouched. So, I really have no idea how the monitor looks like or whether it is functioning. What I do know is that I haven’t torn the box apart and the box seems fine to me.
Why am I not opening it yet? Well, I still haven’t found my pen knife (if I have one to begin with) so I’m hoping that someone would volunteer to do it for me, or I’ll wait till the bear comes over tomorrow.
All good things can wait, no?
Before I end this pointless piece that basically says nothing about the monitor, here are a couple of things I’m going to admit before my so-called testing of the unit.
First and foremost, I have no clue whatsoever on monitor testing. I’ve tested cameras, mobile phones, audio systems, television, notebooks, netbooks, etc but monitors… this is kinda the first. So, if I should supremely amateurish with my findings, do pardon me.
There’s always a first to everything. Hmmm… I wonder if there’s built-in speakers. If there are, I wonder if they sound good. Also, did they provide me stats? How do I test for FPS (frame per second)? Dammit! I don’t have Quake on my Mac! I wonder if they’d send me some FPS (first person shooter) games for Mac so I can test the FPS (frame per second)? Or better still!!! Send me a PC!!! I have my Quake 3, just don’t have a PC. Are there other ways to test monitors?
I remember the last monitor I got, not including the latest purchase of my 23-inch Samsung, I bought it cause it was supposedly built for gaming. So what’s this monitor built for? Which explains why I bought my Samsung. Well, they are the ones that run World Cyber Games (WCG)… And as a once-upon-a-time gamer, I kinda always figured my monitor would be Samsung, not that other monitors wouldn’t do the job but… you know. Branding.
Maybe this LG monitor would change my opinion of monitors? Maybe I’ll sell my Samsung monitor that I haven’t opened YET and buy the LG one instead? Maybe they like (or hate) my review so much they decide to let me keep the monitor and since I haven’t opened my Samsung one (and like or can somewhat live with it), I’ll still sell the Samsung one!
I’m starting to blabber. It’s past 3.30am. Figures.
