This new Take3 programme is an innovative programme by M1 that is set to revolutionize the way mobile services are provided in Singapore. The concept of this programme is pretty straight forward; customer signs up for a bill plan that fits him best, takes a handset of his/her choice within the eligible bill plan tiers and takes it back in exchange for another handset from as soon as after nine months.

Take3 covers all currently available mobile bill plans costing SGD19.26 and above per month. The programme comprises four bill plan tiers with different handset eligibility for each tier. All handsets offered by Take3 are brand new and are of the same makes and models as those normally available for sale in M1 shops and authorized dealer outlets.

Existing M1 customers on eligible bill plans can also opt for Take3 if they do not have active current handset contracts or have completed at least 20 months of their current 24-month handset contracts. Customers on the Take3 programme who terminate their mobile lines before the end of their 24-month service contract or downgrade their bill plans will, however, have to pay charges computed according to the period remaining in their contracts.

The programme is supposedly M1’s response to feedback from many mobile users for more flexibility. But to me, it just feels like a step towards how things are work overseas. If I’ve not mistaken I think Japan has been practicing something like that since quite a while back.
