Mobile World Congress: Sony Ericsson 2
Sony Ericsson made several exciting announcements during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year.
First on the list is Entertainment Unlimited – a new strategy that represents Sony Ericsson commitment to creating a true fusion of communication and entertainment. This strategy builds on Sony Ericsson’s leadership in music, imaging, gaming, content services, and applications to deliver unlimited opportunities for consumers to share experiences.
As part of the strategy, Sony Ericsson is also showing a mobile phone under the concept name Idou giving a glimpse of one of a number of projects that will be launched this year under this umbrella.
Idou at-a-glance:
- 12.1 megapixel camera, intuitive touch features and Xenon flash
- Full-touch media menu
- True 16:9 widescreen format for movies and more
- Symbian Foundation operating system
Next up is the W995 Walkman phone that offers the “most complete” communication entertainment package to date.

- Wi-Fi and Turbo 3G – easy video access to YouTube and other entertainment sites
- Clear 2.6″ display – with desk stand, powerful speakers or 3.5mm audio jack
- 8.1 megapixel camera – take picture perfect images with Photo Flash and face recognition

Both W995 and Idou will be available in Singapore from second half of 2009.
Last up is the 4 new free panels for Xperia X1 mobile phone. These panels are available to download from mid-march March 2009. The latest panels include:
- CNN panel
- Skype panel
- Mytopia panel lets you play bingo and poker games with people around the world.
- ‘On the Road’ panel, ideal for road warriors, offering large touch icons for direct access to your music playlists and tracks, navigation tools and easy to use call-handling
