I’m pretty out of date with the latest Windows Mobile version so I can’t really be sure if 6.5 is like really new, pretty new or yesterday’s news.

Whatever the case is, an announcement was made by HP indicating plans in Asia Pacific to support the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system on future HP smartphone devices.

With Windows Mobile 6.5, HP smartphone customers can expect:

- A more interactive touch experience that responds to tapping, flicking and panning on-screen movements
- Browser enhancements and Rich Internet Application (RIA) support
- New ways to personalize their smartphones including new themes, applications, ring tones, contact cards and home screen background
- The ability to transfer music and video to their smartphones with Windows Media Player
- An array of widgets for use on their home screens
- A rich and more-efficient messaging experience
- Automatic Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 settings for company e-mail
- A unified e-mail inbox with the ability to see “text” or Short Messaging Service (SMS) messages as well as conveniently playback their voicemail
- The ability to archive SMS messages on an Exchange Server to safeguard information for later reference

It’s time to read up about Windows Mobile.
